IP Addresses
In order to connect your services to the internet, you require IP Addresses.
A2B Internet is a RIPE NCC LIR member, that means that we can request IP addresses for your business ourselves.
Allthough you might think that an IP address is an IP address, there are some differences.
As a RIPE LIR member, we can provide you with:
- IPv4 Provider Aggregated (IPv4 PA) IP addresses.
- IPv4 Provider Independent (IPv4 PI) IP addresses.
- IPv6 Provider Aggregated (IPv6 PA) IP addresses.
- IPv6 Provider Independent (IPv6 PI) IP addresses.
The big difference between the various types of IP addresses, is that the PA addresses are from the A2B Internet and that PI addresses are registered to your name. And that you could take the PI addresses from one provider to another. Similar as that you could relocate a domainname from one hoster to another, you can do the same with PI address space. The PI addresses are assigned to your company for as long as the initial requirement for the assignment is present.
If you require to multi-home your network or servces via several networks in the (near) future, you require PI IP addresses, if you decide not to become a LIR yourself.
