A2B Internet has been active in the RIPE community since 2002. Next to IP and AS numbers NCC also manages the database in which all IP addresses are stored. All participants register the IP addresses that are distributed. Additional information can be found about different routes, peering agreements etc.

For an internet provider to be allowed to get their own IP-addresses and an Autonomous System or AS registration, the company has to be a RIPE-NCC member and only then they become a LIR (Local Internet Registry).

As an active member A2B has helped and participated in writing the following policies and procedures for RIPE NCC and the RIPE Community:

A2B Internet knowledge of RIPE policies and procedures has led to increasing volumes of consultancy work on network management and development.

The Internet and all its applications have almost become part of our senses these days. Many of us feel the need to be online 24 hours a day, to be interconnected with friends, family, colleagues and customers, or with the world at large. This interconnectivity of people is fed by the interconnectivity of the networks they are using, which is the main purpose of AMS-IX.

Established in the early 1990s as a not-for-profit organisation, AMS-IX (Amsterdam Internet Exchange) is a neutral and independent Internet Exchange based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Now interconnecting around 800 networks by offering professional IP exchange services, also called peering services. Peering enables these connected networks to offer stable, fast and cost-effective Internet services to their end-users and business customers. Peering is what makes the Internet robust and resilient, a network of networks all linked together.

Additionally, peering is not limited to fixed data or traditional ISPs. AMS-IX serves a very diverse and unique mix of Internet companies including international carriers, mobile operators, content providers, hosting and cloud companies, application providers, tv broadcasters, gaming companies and other related businesses – all unified in one community: AMS-IX.

AMS-IX additionally hosts the first mobile peering points worldwide: the Global GPRS Roaming Exchange (GRX), the Mobile Data Exchange (MDX), and the first interconnection of IPX networks (Inter-IPX). AMS-IX deploys two Internet Exchanges abroad: AMS-IX Hong Kong in the Asia Pacific region and AMS-IX Caribbean on Curacao. AMS-IX’s subsidiary AMS-IX USA Inc. deploys AMS-IX Bay Area, AMS-IX Chicago and AMS-IX New York in the United States.

Juniper Networks

Juniper Networks (NYSE: JNPR), an industry leader in automated, scalable and secure networks, and A2B Internet, a Dutch internet connectivity provider, today announced that A2B Internet has selected Juniper Networks® vMX Virtual Routers as the first Virtual Network Function (VNF) for its next-generation network platform. This architecture will enable A2B Internet to deliver new agile and automated services for its customers. A2B Internet also improved monitoring and management capabilities by deploying vMX.

A2B Internet provides connectivity solutions to internet service providers, web, cloud, hosting and enterprise companies. The previous solution was no longer able to meet the growing scale of A2B Internet’s data connections. Convergence time was also critical for the provider. When a link fails or changes, each router must rapidly recompute and update its routing tables. Juniper Networks vMX was selected for its fast convergence times and its rich set of routing features and automation capabilities. One of the key selection drivers for A2B Internet is the ability to automate provisioning in the network using application program interfaces (APIs).
